Serious concern expressed by insurers at the opening of the hurricane season

Deep anxiety for the insurers as the « official » hurricane season prepares to open threateningly, with 12 to 15 events, 3 to 5 of which regarded as major, according to forecasts. The 2004 season caused damages worth 59 billion USD, 54% of which borne by insurers. Pessimistic as they are, the 2005 forecasts assess upcoming loss costs for the big cities of Florida such as Orlando and Miami at 60 billion USD.
