Swiss Re, closedown of the Johannesburg subsidiary

Following the losses posted in the non-life class of business, Swiss Re has announced that it will soon proceed to the closure of its subsidiary in South Africa. Non life activities will be transferred to the headquarters in Zurich whereas life business will be managed from Cape Town.

The Swiss reinsurer has also announced the suppression of 10% of its jobs worldwide by 2010.
