Terrorist acts cost 52.9 billion USD in 2014

According to a survey conducted by the Institute for Economics and Peace, terrorist acts cost 52.9 billion USD in 2014. This amount is the highest ever paid since the 9/11, 2001 events which totaled 51.51 billion USD.

The estimates recently made include damage to property as well as the cost sustained by the deaths and the injuries (health care and loss of income). However, they do not include the costs pertaining to the new security measures, police intervention, etc. The economic cost of the Paris attacks are not included in the estimate, either.
