The first nine insurers are posting profits in the first quarter of 2010

According to Standard & Poor's, the first nine Japanese insurers have reported an overall net profit of 2.16 billion USD in the first quarter of 2010. This performance is in clear improvement in comparison with the loss of 0.717 billion sustained one year earlier. However, these profits remain below those achieved prior to the crisis. The insurers ranking in the top nine are: Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, Aioi Insurance, Nissay Dowa General  Insurance, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, Nisshin Fire & Marine Insurance, Sompo Japan Insurance, Nipponkoa Insurance, Fuji Fire & Marine Insurance and Kyoei Fire & Marine Insurance.
