The Forum of European Insurance examines new risks

While the entry into force of the last Solvency II rules is scheduled for 2016, the European Insurance Forum has been addressing the new challenges facing the insurance industry.

New man-made risks are emerging, such as the rapid evolution of technologies or population displacement which is likely to spur the outbreak of new pandemics. These risks cannot be tackled unless regulations that provide answers at the global scale are promulgated.

Consultations among insurers are therefore essential with a view to collecting and then processing statistical data. The training of new talents also seems paramount. All these measures are likely to allow the insurance business to consolidate risk management and to calmly address the emergence of new risks.
