The government backtracked on the insurance of public companies

The Ghanaian government has suspended the directive introduced last December requiring public companies to rely on state-owned insurance companies for their insurance policies.

The introduction of this measure has triggered many protests from local private companies. Some Ghanaian insurers suffered from reciprocity measures or from market foreclosure in surrounding countries, thus depriving them from business opportunities.
