The government of Queensland has purchased an insurance cover

The Queensland government has acquired a reinsurance cover for its properties. Schools, hospitals, bridges and tunnels have, therefore, become protected against natural catastrophes, fires and acts of terrorism. The cost of this cover is estimated at 25 to 30 million USD per year, in excess of 20 million USD per risks and 50 million USD for natural events. The cover is stretched to 55.4 million USD. Roads, severely damaged by the summer floods, have not been included in this cover.
