The insurance fraud costs annually 94 million USD to the sector

According to Lotfi Bezzarga, chairman of the Fédération tunisienne des sociétés d'assurances (FTUSA), the market recorded an annual loss of 150 million TND ( 94 million USD) due to fraud.

These insurance offenses account for 10.7% of the sector's turnover estimated at 1.4 billion TND (873.4 million USD). L. Bezzarga states that only 25% of these actions are detected which cause serious damage to insurance companies.

To cope with this growing phenomenon, the chairman of the FTUSA stresses the need to create an agency for the fight against fraud.

Reforms are underway to create a risk management center in collaboration with the general committee for insurance and the insurance companies.
