The insurance penetration rate remains poor

The year 2010 has showed that the turnover in the Maghreb reached 3.924 billion USD, an increase of 1.7% over one year. Morocco has the highest penetration rate (2.26%), followed by Tunisia (1.76%) and Algeria (0.73%). Insurance density is more important in Tunisia (73 USD / capita) than in Morocco (65 USD / capita) and in Algeria (30 USD / capita).

The average penetration rate is set at 1.38% for these three countries while the average density is 50 USD per capita. These figures are well below the world average respectively 6.89% for the penetration rate and 629 USD for density.
