The kiosks will be marketing insurance policies

The regulatory authorities are examining the possibility for kiosks established in gas stations, supermarkets and institutions of micro-finance to sell insurance policies. This operation is designed to increase the insurance penetration rate in Kenya, which is currently at 2.84% of the GDP. Lack of public awareness, poor image of insurance and poverty are the underlying causes behind this low rate. the Kenyan authorities want to build on the good results of this distribution system in Malaysia and India to boost insurance in the country.
