The Lloyd's is reporting its best results ever

Benefiting from a rather low level of natural catastrophes losses, the Lloyd's market has posted an excellent performance in 2009. Pre-tax results have doubled growing from 1.899 billion GBP (2.749 billion USD) in 2008 to 3.868 billion GBP (6.160 billion USD) in 2009. Return on equity has also doubled from 957 million GBP (1.385 billion USD) in 2008 to 1.769 billion GBP (2.817 billion USD) in 2009.
Combined ratio has improved by 5.2 points at 86.1% versus 91.3% a year earlier. As to the volume of premiums collected by the 84 Lloyd's syndicates, it attained 21.97 billion GBP (34.993 billion USD), that is, a 20% progression compared to 2008.
