The Lloyd's is strained by natural catastrophes

Lloyd's has announced a profit of 2.195 billion GBP (3.395 billion USD) in 2010, compared to 3.87 billion GBP (5.987 billion USD) a year earlier, that is, a decrease of 7.6%. This decline of the result is due to the natural catastrophes that occurred in 2010. These events have severely compromised the profitability of this market. The earthquake in Chile, alone, caused 1.3 billion USD of losses.
