The Nairobi Stock Exchange boosts insurers’ profits

Thanks to the good performance of the Nairobi Stock Exchange, the investments of insurance companies rose by 23.8% in 2012. The total amount of these investments has reached 235.6 billion KES (2.75 billion USD) in 2012 compared to 190.2 billion KES (2.27 billion USD) in 2011. Life insurance accounts for 63.9% of this amount versus 36.1% for non-life. Some companies have recently revised their investment portfolio, shifting more and more towards real estate.
