The total cost of climate-related damages

According to the 2007 claim toll elaborated by the reinsurer Munich Re, the total cost of climate-related damages have reached 75 billion USD, that is, a 50% increase in comparison with 2006. The amount of insured losses, which doubled compared to the previous year, has amounted to 30 billion USD. The multiplication of catastrophic phenomena, 950 in 2007 against 850 in 2006, is, according to the reinsurer, one of the consequences of the ongoing climate changes.
