Toll and first estimates of the 29 June 2005 fire

The blaze that ravaged an oil works in the industrial area of Ramadan City on June 29, 2005 claimed the lives of two people, injured 36 among the employees and destroyed the mill's installations. According to a first estimate, the damage costs would amount to 500 million EGP (87 million USD). Apart from the direct insurer El Chark, Egypt Re would be equally affected by the disaster.
