Tougher laws on road traffic

Last February 8, the new law on road traffic entered into force. It provides for a significant increase in fines and penalties resulting from violations of the traffic regulations.

Motorists will be charged amounts up to 15 916 USD coupled with prison sentence in the event of a death that occurred following the breach of a traffic light.
The use of mobile phone while driving will result in 1 334 USD fines levied against the drivers.

A period of one year is still required in order to evaluate the behavior of drivers. In case of decrease in the number of accidents, insurers will also be able to revise their rates downwards.
