Training and awareness of French general agents to cyber risks

trainingThe Fédération Nationale des Syndicats d'Agents Généraux d'Assurances (the national federation of the syndicates of general insurance agents) (Agéa), France Assureurs and the French Gendarmerie Nationale have signed an unprecedented partnership agreement in September 2021.

The objective is to train and raise awareness of cyber risks among general agents.

Since then, 500 agents have been trained through the organization of regional seminars with officers specialized in computer attacks. Other meetings are also scheduled.

Thanks to these meetings, insurance agents are now in a position to better inform their clients about this type of risk, the prevention tools and the insurance solutions available to them.

This initiative follows the increase in cyber attacks in France over the past few years. According to the 2022 edition of the insurance and reinsurance industry's risk map, published by France Assureurs, cyber attacks rank first for the fifth consecutive year.

This increase can be explained by the sharp rise in the number of ransomware attacks.
