Tunisian agriculture weakened by low insurance penetration

A survey conducted by the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the French development agency has pinpointed the lack of coverage of the agricultural sector facing the natural catastrophes. The plans available on the Tunisian market are limited to hail, livestock mortality, comprehensive greenhouse or third party liability risks.
The coverage rate does not exceed 6%. This flaw strains agriculture which is also required to meet the lack of funding of banks and the small number of farmers affiliated to farm mutuals.
