Typhoons Etau and Goni provisional toll

Japan is plagued by a series of typhoons and torrential rains that may impact insurers. The passage of typhoon Etau, last week caused major floods and landslides the insured losses of which are estimated at 30 billion JPY (249 million USD).

For their part, insured losses from typhoon Goni that lashed southern Japan last August, could amount to 70 billion JPY (582 million USD). MS & AD Insurance, Tokio Marine and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa, the three largest non-life insurers in the country could pay nearly 100 billion JPY (831 million USD) in insured damage.
