Unemployment insurance

Saudi authorities are about to introduce a compulsory unemployment insurance, a scheme supposed to prompt Saudis’ interest in the private sector whose wages and benefits are lower than the public sector.
This program is funded by the monthly levy of 1% of salary for all employees in the Kingdom. The compensation awarded to the unemployed ranges between 2 000 SAR (533 USD) and a maximum of 9 000 SAR (2 400 USD) while management period is limited to 12 months.
