Volunteers fighting Ebola provided with free insurance coverage

The Nigerian government announced that all volunteers fighting against the spread of the virus will be provided with free insurance up to 71.749 million NGN (392 610 USD).

The package promised by the authorities provides for accident and disability insurance worth almost 96 000 USD along with medical coverage capped at 190 000 USD.

The amount of 100 000 USD will be paid to beneficiaries in case of death of the insured. The announcement was made while a new group of volunteers was being trained in Lagos early December, departing to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
