World Cup 2014, the cancellation risk at 2 billion USD

According to a director of Munich Re, the cancellation of the 2014 World Cup could cost 2 billion USD to insurers. It would cause, among other things, reimbursement of tickets, cancellation fees for hotel reservations , and losses for television.

The main concern of insurers remain, to a lesser extent, the cancellation or postponement of individual matches due to traffic problems.

Note that Munich Re is individually involved with an amount of 400 million USD in case of cancellation of the event.
