World Cup 2014, up to 10 million compensation for clubs losing a player

The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has introduced insurance to cover clubs against injury of their players selected for the 2014 World Cup.

The guarantee provides for the payment of a compensation capped at 28 000 USD per day and per player, in case of incapacity for a period between 29 and 365 days, 10.22 million USD in the worst case.

To ensure their income due to injury, players can turn to individual insurance solutions. These could allocate up to 135 000 USD for highest rated players of the French team.

According to the magazine L'Argus de l'Assurance, 18 French players, at least, out of the 23 selected have subscribed to such a product.
