The National Insurance Council (CNA) has published provisional figures for the Algerian insurance market in 2024.
As at 31 December of the previous year, the total turnover across all classes of business reached 181.3 billion DZD (1.3 billion USD), marking a 4.4% increase over the year.
With a market share of 83%, non-life premiums amounted to 150.4 billion DZD (1.1 billion USD), reflecting a year-on-year growth of 2.9%.
Life and health insurance premiums rose by 3.2% to 20.1 billion DZD (147.1 million USD), or 11.1% of the total portfolio.
International reinsurance acceptances totaled 10 billion DZD (73.2 million USD), up by 32.2% over one year.
For their part, Takaful contributions showed a sharp increase of 248.8% to 749 million DZD (5.5 million USD).
Local insurers settled 1 856 799 claims in 2024 for a total of 81.1 billion DZD (593.6 million USD).
