AXA: Future Risks Report for 2024

October 22, 2024
AXAAXA has published its annual ranking of the top ten most pressing risks in 2024.

The 11th edition of the “Future Risks Report” was produced based on the results of a survey carried out among 3 000 experts in 50 countries and 20 000 representatives of the general public in 15 countries.

Climate change remains the number one concern for respondents on every continent.

Ranked third in 2023, geopolitical instability has moved up one place to become second. This is largely due to current tensions in the Middle East and the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict. In third place are cyber risks.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data, which made its way into the top 10 emerging risks in 2023, remains the fourth biggest risk for experts in 2024.

In 2024, respondents put new security threats and terrorism in 8th place (16th in 2023).

AXA's “Future Risks Report 2024” also highlights the dangers of misinformation, especially as elections draw closer. This rapidly growing risk, which is closely linked to all the others, is fuelled by the widespread use of digital tools, social media and artificial intelligence. As such, false information represents a threat to the prevention and management of global risks.
