Covid-19: a third dose of vaccine to combat the Delta variant

With the rapid spread of the Delta variant, some countries believe that a third dose of the vaccine is needed to boost the immunity of some people to the new strain.

Israel has already started injecting a third dose to people over 60 years old. After Israel, Germany has decided to implement a vaccine booster for elderly and vulnerable populations, including those who have not received a messenger RNA vaccine, starting 1 September 2021.

The United Kingdom will be offering a third injection of the Pfizer vaccine to people over 50 by the end of the summer.

France is also considering a third dose of the vaccine.
