Deadly floods in Tanzania and Kenya

Over the past few weeks, a large number of East African countries have been faced with heavy rains, compounded by the meteorological phenomenon el Niño.

Heavy rainfall in Tanzania has triggered flooding and landslides. The disaster affected over 51 000 households and 200 000 people. The death toll reached 155, with 236 injured.

Several regions in Kenya were also hit by flooding, which claimed 13 lives, while several people are still missing.
