A dispute between SONAS and the United Nations intervention force in the country

The government and the Société Nationale d'Assurance (SONAS) are planning to make recourse to international judicial bodies to settle a dispute with the United Nations intervention forces (MONUC) in the country. In order to cover its 3,000 vehicles, 150 aircrafts, 25 ships and numerous buildings, MONUC has underwritten insurance policies with American Life Insurance Co. Ltd. based in Kenya and Société Nationale d'Assurance du Rwanda (SONARWA) and not from SONAS which holds the monopoly over the third party liability insurance of the vehicles circulating on the Congolese national territory.
