Heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, triggered flooding in Yanbu and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 10 December 2025.
Unusual hailstorms were also reported in desert areas.
In Yanbu, buildings and vehicles were completely destroyed, and nearly 300 000 residents were left trapped by extremely powerful winds.
In Jeddah, the city’s famous Formula 1 circuit became impassable. Local authorities ordered schools to close and shifted all classes to distance learning.
