French insurers have received 25 000 claims, with total losses estimated at approximately 500 million EUR (580.1 million USD), following the wildfires that swept through the Gironde, Landes, and Var regions in July 2026.
The figures released by France Assureurs are based on claims data collected through mid-August. The total is expected to rise, as policyholders had until 31 August 2026 to file their claims.
Damage to private property accounts for most of the reported losses, with 21 000 claims filed for this type of risk.
