The CoreLogic Risk Modeling Center has revised upwards the forecast of insured losses caused by Hurricane Beryl in Texas. Projections are now estimated to range between 2.5 billion USD and 3.5 billion USD. Corelogic previously expected a cost of between 700 million USD and 1.5 billion USD.
These values include damage to residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural properties.
After hitting the Caribbean, Jamaica and Mexico, Beryl made landfall in Texas on 9 July 2024.
The cost of the disaster would vary between 1 billion USD and 1.5 billion USD in the Caribbean and be contained at 1 billion USD for Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Mexico.
Another firm (Karen Clark & Company (KCC)) has reported a more moderate estimate. According to KCC, the United States, the Caribbean and Mexico would respectively absorb insured losses of 2.7 billion USD, 510 million USD and 90 million USD.
