On the night of 26 to 27 April 2025, a landslide destroyed five homes in a district of Oran, Algeria's second largest city.
Rocks collapsed on the houses built at the foot of a mountain, resulting in material and human damage. The exact cause of the disaster remains unknown.
According to the Algerian Civil Protection, the incident claimed four lives and left 13 injured. The four deceased were aged between 5 and 43.
The 13 other victims, aged between 12 and 75, suffered various injuries and were rushed to hospital.
