Mapfre Re appoints Chaturbhuj Bansal as Head of its Indian branch

Mapfre Re, the reinsurance arm of the Spanish insurance group Mapfre, has appointed Chaturbhuj Bansal as Head of its operations in India, subject to regulatory approval.

Mr. Bansal brings 26 years of experience in the Indian insurance, reinsurance, and brokerage sectors. Over the course of his career, he has held senior leadership roles at UNISON Insurance Broking Services, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, and Swiss Re.

As a reminder, in February 2026, the reinsurer received approval to establish a branch office in the state of Gujarat, India.
