Meeting of the regulatory authorities

The Commonwealth Secretariat has gathered in Kampala, from the 9th to the 11th of last March, the regulatory authorities of the countries of East Africa. Discussions focused on deepening and sharing knowledge in the insurance sector.
The participants reviewed the procedures and techniques required to establish an effectively-regulated market. The financial crisis has unveiled weaknesses that the local financial authorities are trying to solve through increased controls and monitoring.
