MetLife acquires Alico

The American insurer MetLife has set foot in the Middle East by acquiring American Life Insurance Company (ALICO) from AIG. The group, created from the merger of these two entities, will specialize in life and empolyees' benefits insurance. Life insurance accounts for only 0.3% of the GDP in this region versus 8% in developed countries.
