The minister of trade and industry wishes to have a greater number of American insurers and brokers use the offshore international financial center of Labuan as a technical platform for companies operating in South East Asia. For the time being, 6 American insurance and brokerage firms are working regularly in Labuan where they enjoy preferential terms, including up to 10-year tax exemption for a given type of activities.
