More than 1 800 fatalities on Algerian roads in 2023

The Algerian Directorate General of Civil Protection reported that in 2023, 63 694 accidents occurred on the country's roads. The number of deaths reached 1 893 and the number of injured 79 771.

One of the deadliest accidents of the year took place in July in the commune of Tamanrasset, located in the south of the country. A collision between a commercial vehicle and a bus left 34 people dead.
