Omar Gouda Steps Down as CEO of Misr Insurance

Omar Gouda stepped down from his role as CEO of Misr Insurance on 14 August 2025, after nearly five years at the helm of the company.

He has a wealth of experience spanning more than 40 years in the insurance and reinsurance sector, during which time he held several senior positions within the supervisory authority and local companies, including the Egyptian Insurance Supervisory Authority, National Insurance Company of Egypt, Al Ahlia Cooperative Insurance, and Egyptian Saudi Insurance.

In 2003, he joined Africa Re, where he spent 17 years in various executive roles, including Regional Director for North East Africa and the Middle East, and Managing Director of Africa Retakaful.

He was appointed CEO of Misr Insurance on 5 November 2020.

In recognition of his leadership, Gouda was named CEO of the Year at the 2023 African Insurance Awards.
