Studies
After earning a degree in physics from the Technical University of Graz (Austria) in 1998, C. Jurecka continued his studies at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany), where he obtained a PhD in 2001.
Professional career
His insurance career began in February 2002 with DBV-Winterthur Holding AG, the German subsidiary of the Swiss Winterthur Group, which was acquired by AXA in 2006. Within this company, he successively held the positions of Risk Controller,Head of Business Administration & Controlling, and Head of Risk and Capital Management.
In 2007, he was appointed Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of AXA Konzern AG in Cologne. Two years later, in 2009, he became CFO of AXA Switzerland and a member of the Board of Directors.
In February 2011, Dr. Jurecka joined Munich Re as a member of the Management Board and CFO of ERGO, the Group's direct insurance subsidiary. He also holds several mandates on the Group's management and supervisory boards in Germany and abroad.
Since 1 January 2019, C. Jurecka has been a member of the Management Board and CFO of Munich Re.
On 23 July 2025, he was officially appointed Chairman of the Munich Re Group's Management Board, a position he will assume starting 1 January 2026, replacing Joachim Wenning, whose term of office comes to an end on 31 December 2025.
