Prime Life Assurance bets mobile phone-based distribution

The life insurer Prime Life Assurance has partnered with phone operator MTN Rwanda to distribute life insurance policies through mobile phones. This commercial offensive, the first of its kind in the country, is targeting seven million mobile phone subscribers. Insurance penetration rate in Rwanda does not exceed 3%.
The two partners have set up a mobile platform, MTN Life Care, which aims to offer insurance packages tailored to consumers.
