Social protection fund for Tunisian women farm workers to be financed by insurance premiums

The 2025 Draft Finance Law provides for the creation of a social protection fund for Tunisian women workers in the agricultural sector.

Female workers will benefit from health insurance, old-age or disability pensions, bonuses and maternity leave. The new scheme will also cover their transport costs.

The fund will be financed up to 5 million TND (1.6 million USD) by the State and by a 1% levy on insurance premiums, a 5 TND (1.6 USD) tax on each vehicle technical inspection certificate and a 10% levy on the total annual amount of traffic fines.
