The recent flooding in Central Europe caused by storm Boris could result in insured losses ranging from 2 to 3 billion EUR (2.2 to 3.3 billion USD), according to estimates by Gallagher Re.
Broker Aon estimates that the flooding could be one of the most expensive events ever recorded in the region, costing the insurance market several billion dollars.
The disaster claimed the lives of at least 24 people, including 10 in Poland, 7 in Romania, 4 in the Czech Republic and 3 in Austria, while several others are still missing.
Boris also caused extensive damage to real estate, commercial properties, vehicles and infrastructure.
