Swiss Re embarks on microinsurance

Following an initial experience in Kenya, Swiss Re solutions went into partnership with the Rwandan ministry of agriculture in order to help farmers address climate hazards suffered at the national level. The scheme provides for the installation of eight new climate stations allowing to forecast incurred risks. Rwandan peasants will have to pay a reduced insurance premium when they invest in the equipment or seeds they need. They will, therefore, be indemnified in case of a serious claim.
