On 11 January 2025, the Tunisian government considered a draft law on the creation of a job loss insurance scheme for economic reasons.
The purpose of this initiative is to support employees who have lost their jobs for economic reasons.
The insurance scheme would provide workers who have been laid off with compensation for lost wages and access to social security benefits, including health coverage, throughout the period of unemployment.
The regime also offers training and professional reintegration programs aimed at upgrading the skills of those concerned to prepare them for the demands of the job market.
The Council of Ministers has yet to approve the bill.
