Definition of seismic zones in Tunisia

The Tunisian government is currently conducting a research project to determine the seismic risk areas in the country.

Several experts are working with the government on this project, including Professor Mustapha Meghraoui, researcher at the Strasbourg Institute for Earth Physics (France), Head of the "Earth Sciences" section at the Algerian Academy of Sciences and Technology and former President of the Africa Seismological Commission.

The recent deadly earthquakes that occurred in Turkey and Syria have prompted several countries to reassess their exposure to this type of natural disaster. The fear of the Big One has also been rekindled in some countries located on seismic faults.
