GPS for better road safety in Algeria

GPSTo fight against the increasing number of road accidents, the road safety services in Algeria are proposing to equip all cars with GPS (Global Positioning System).

This method would allow to:

  • track and monitor the trajectory of vehicles,
  • orientate the drivers and detect their speed,
  • identify the causes of a traffic accident,
  • determine the responsibility of each party in case of a motor claim,
  • reduce the number of vehicle thefts, a phenomenon that has reached a record level in recent years.

It should be recalled that the Algerian government has recently adopted new road safety measures including tougher penalties for traffic violations.
