Road accident claims several lives in Algeria

A commercial vehicle and a bus collided in the Tamanrasset province in southern Algeria, on 19 July 2023. The road accident was followed by a fire.

Local authorities reported that 34 people were burned to death, while 12 others were seriously injured. The death toll could be even higher, given the severe burns suffered by those injured.

In 2022, the Algerian roads recorded 22 980 accidents, resulting in 3 409 deaths and 30 479 injuries.
