Severe storms in Australia

The Australian States of Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria were hit by violent thunderstorms and winds on 23 December 2023.

The storm claimed the lives of at least ten people, while more than 80 000 homes were left without power.

According to the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA), local insurers have received a total of 18 174 claims as at 29 December 2023 for damage caused by the disaster.
