Southern China devastated by deadly floodsWhile northern and central China are hit by heat waves and drought, the south of the country is facing deadly floods.

On 19 June 2024, torrential rains fell on the city of Guilin causing the waters to rise rapidly. The provisional death toll stands at 47.

A few days earlier, the provinces of Xinjiang and Guangdong were also devastated by floods killing five people.

Every summer, China is prone to heavy rainfall forming mudslides that wash away everything: cars, buses, houses, bridges, etc.
