Insurance in Côte d'Ivoire: H1 2023 turnover

businessData published by the the Association of Insurance Companies of Côte d'Ivoire (ASACI) indicates that local insurers have recorded an 18% increase in their half-year turnover. The figure amounted to 340 billion FCFA (564.5 million USD) in the first half of 2023, against 289 billion FCFA (462.1 million USD) a year earlier.

This growth was mainly driven by the non-life class of business, which posted a 21% improvement in written premiums to 223 billion FCFA (370.2 million USD), accounting for a market share of 65.6%.

Life underwriting was up by 12% to 117 billion FCFA (194.3 million USD), representing 34.4% of the total written premiums in Côte d'Ivoir as at 30 June 2023.

During the period under review, benefits paid stood at 153 billion FCFA (254.02 million USD), up by 29% over one year.
